Since the beginning of last week, I've been out leading trips every day throughout the arrowhead region. I haven't got around to posting about each day of birding, but wanted to wrap up some of the birding finds in a summary for anyone interested in checking out some of the more recently-observed birds. Sax-Zim Bog continues to be a great spot for Great Gray Owls, Sharp-tailed Grouse, Black-billed Magpies, Common & Hoary Redpolls, Evening Grosbeaks and more! The North Shore continues to be great with owls, Long-tailed Ducks (in Two Harbors), Herring Gulls, plus a 2nd-cycle Thayer's Gull I found earlier in the week in Agate Bay (Two Harbors).
Yesterday's visit to the bog and the North Shore produced two Great Gray Owls and this Barred Owl. http://www.pbase.com/birdfedr/image/148864003 I'll be sure to post as the week continues.
