This noon on the partially thawed southern end of Snelling Lake, packed in tight we saw trumpeter swans, common mergansers, hooded mergansers, red-breasted mergansers, coots, wood ducks, ring-necked ducks and scaups (not sure if lesser or greater). Overhead, turkey vulture and 2 immature bald eagles. A few song sparrows in this park as well.
Unfortunately no loons today. Also today at the Old Cedar Bridge, many American tree sparrows, some fox sparrows and red wing black birds right on the south edge of the parking lot. Under the bridge in a small area of open water Trumpeter swans, red breasted mergansers and hooded mergansers.
