I stopped at Purgatory Creek wetlands in Eden Prairie this evening and had much
success despite the drizzle at the time. Many ducks and 3 species of Grebes
were on the lake!!

I was not properly clothed for the cold rain to take the time count or scan
thoroughly but here is a list of highlights.

Buffleheads - many, it seemed to be the most common with at least 30 or 40
Lesser Scaup - plenty of scaup too, a greater could have been hidden amongst
them
Red-necked Grebe - 5 on the edge of the closer group of Buffleheads
Horned Grebe - 10 near the Red necked grebes, most sleeping
Pied-billed Grebe - 3
Redhead - 3, at least
Ring-necked Duck - 10, one small group
Common Merganser
Northern Shoveler - 1

They were scattered in groups throughout the lake, they were all viewed from
the east side of Purgatory Creek off of Columbine Rd next to the Lifetime
Fitness.
