Loons have been spotted on smaller bodies of water that have opened in
Becker County. How are migrating loons faring in the toxins of the Gulf
Coast oil spill of 2010? Carrol Henderson, MN DNR Nongame Wildlife
supervisor collaborated with the US Geological Survey to fit Common Loons
with satellite transmitters or geolocator tags to record bird migration
routes and feeding patterns. Find out what they found about the impacts of
the oil spill on MN migrants on Thursday, May 16 at the Detroit Lakes
Festival of Birds (May 16-19). Friday, May 17 Paul Sundberg shares behind
the scenes secrets of nature photography. Saturday, May 18 Cornell Lab
Director John Fitzpatrick delivers his keynote on how birds are sensitive
