I want to remind everyone who visits Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge, that
the ONLY trails open for birding/hiking/driving during our wildlife sanctuary
period (March 1 to August 31) are the Blue Hill and Mahnomen Trails, and the
Prairie's Edge Wildlife Drive.  You are also welcome to bird around the
headquarters/office yard and deck area.  All other refuge service roads and
trails are closed to visitors during the breeding season - allowing wildlife to
raise their young free from human disturbance.

The "behind the gates" portion of our field trip this morning was conducted
with prior permission of the refuge manager as part of our Spring Celebration,
and only because refuge staff accompanied you. That area is closed to the
public at all times.

For more detailed information and maps, visit the refuge website - the "Public
Use Regulations & Map" provide you with the most important information.
