I was able to bird at the Malardi Lake WMA, this afternoon and enjoyed all the
Shorebirds that Robin had posted plus a few more species of interest. I
appreciated Bart's initial postings on the draw down and Robin's update. For
those interested in checking the area out, the morning would be better than the
afternoon. As the area you view the birds from is on the East side of the
lake. The DNR web page has good directions to the site. Here are some of the
species I observed there this afternoon:

Semipalmated Plover - 8
American Avocet - 1
Greater Yellowlegs - 1
Willet - 3
Lesser Yellowlegs - 100 +
Hudsonian Godwit - 11
Least Sandpiper - 100 +
Pectoral Sandpiper - 1
Dunlin - 8
Short-billed Dowitcher - 23
Wilson's Phalarope - 50 +
Peregrine Falcon - 1
Gray-cheeked Thrush - 3
Swainson's Thrush - 2
