Judging by the recent bird-posts, it seems that many yard-feeders continue
to host birds not usually seen there by the home-owners. Our small St.Paul
yard was no exception, with many species we've had only one other, very
cold spring.

The flowering plum tree was inundated with warblers from dawn until dusk.
Tennessees were the most numerous, with a smattering of Nashvilles and Cape
Mays. Foliage and high mobility impeded ID, but there may have been Vireo
among them. They were joined by at least five Baltimore Orioles, who were
just as busy at the blossoms as the more agile warblers. Only the
Rose-breasted Grosbeak went to the seed-feeder; the plum-tree looked like a
living bee-hive all day.
