The smartphone application has had a couple of improvements since the original
release.
a.. The location field is "remembered" when a county is changed and restored
to the previous name
b.. A problem with deleting an entry/location has been fixed
c.. The location field is repeated on all blank entries so you know what
location will be used when a box is clicked
d.. The migration information has been extended so the migration date is
shown for species that are out of season
It has been interesting to see the increase of number of species on the gadget
as the migration date comes. Early Spring the application showed only
Yellow-remped Warbler as a possible warbler. Later in April and May, all the
warblers were shown. This application uses the median migration dates compiled
by Paul Budde and displays a species when the migration date has arrived. The
application also uses the Common, Uncommon, Occasional, Rare designations for
each of the Minnesota counties, compiled by Robert Janssen.

As we travel through Minnesota, its interesting to see the application change
counties as a county boundary is crossed. If the GPS is enabled and tracking,
it appears to be even more exact than the highway signs.

As others have noted, this application is not for general use outside of
Minnesota. It is not in competition with BirdLog, the entry method used for
eBird.

If you have requests for improvement of this tool, please send me a note.

Thanks.
