Highlights of the birds we saw this morning at Louisville Swamp (MN Valley 
National Wildlife Refuge unit) on a refuge/MN River Valley Audubon Chapter bird 
hike:

4 orchard orioles - near parking lot across from Renaissance Festival grounds 
scarlet tanager 1 or 2 singing males near the dike/Sand Creek
trumpeter swans (2 - one seemed to be on a nest)
American white pelicans 25 (?) 
10 or more rose breasted grosbeaks, both genders
2 or more brown thrashers
alder flycatchers - 1 or 2 heard only
blue winged warblers - at least 5, heard only
lark sparrows gathering nesting materials (2 or more)
indigo buntings
Baltimore orioles - many seen and heard singing - one in a nest

Other birders we saw on the trail also reported 
prothonotary warbler
cuckoo species
bluebirds
owl

Lots of bird song - a great morning to be out!
