Looking out on Lake Superior here tonight , we were surprised to see a raft of 63 ducks! They were far enough out that we couldn't be positive of I.D., even with a scope. The coloration looked like mallards...dark head and neck, slightly darker back than sides(which didn't appear to be white) and dark tail end . It was quite the sight. Seems rather late in the season to have so many together?
Any thoughts?
