Earlier this morning I heard and then saw a male Blue Grosbeak in another
location in Blue Earth county. The bird was singing from the top of a dead
tree along a large gravel mining pit close to the little town of Cambria in the
far north western part of the county along Hwy. 68. There's a road that leads
to the mine off of Hwy. 68 between Co. Rd. 6 and 239th St. You can't miss the
mine, it's huge. I could easily hear the male singing from the gravel road
that leads to the mine. A scope was required to see the bird in the tree top
on the opposite side of the mine.
