There were 4 Buff-breasted Sandpipers at the Jirik Sod Farms at 7:00 this evening. All were on the west side of County 79 (Blaine Ave); two were in some shaggy sod just north of the plowed area, the two others were a bit south of these and much farther from the road, beyond the plowed area. Also present were 2 Baird's Sandpipers, 2 Pectoral Sandpipers and around 40 Killdeer. Tom Tustison recorded a similar mix earlier in the day. A scope would be very helpful here, but most of these birds were close enough for marginal binocular views. The Jirik Sod Farms are in Empire Township, south of County 66 (200th St) on either side of County 79 (Blaine Ave).
