I spent the weekend on the North Shore and saw on Saturday afternoon (2pm) what may have been a dark phase Parasitic Jaeger on the small point, just above the water, just north of Shovel Point at Tetteguche State Park.
Black cap, dark greyish/buff all over becoming much darker toward the tail. About the length of the Ring-billed on the rocks above but clearly heavier set. He flew up once and re-settled and I distinctly saw the leading edge of his wings (top) were darker black than the rest of the wing. I could see no longer tail feathers but I have read those are only present during breeding season. I'll be interested in hearing other possible identifications or if anybody else saw anything similar. I am relatively new to this so open to alternate suggestions and comments. Thanks.
