Red-headed woodpeckers are regulars in my yard, on 325th St. in Section 12 of
Hartland Township, on 715th Ave. in Section 2 and 11 of Hartland Township, and
in Section 14 of 655th Ave. in Freeborn Township. Also found on 655th Avenue
was a leucistic red-tailed hawk. It is nearly all white, except for dark eyes
and a few small, dark patches on its wings. A lovely bird. There are two other
red-tailed hawks in typical plumage in the same area.
Here’s an interesting article on the hunt for illegal egg collectors that was
in a recent issue of The New Yorker.

Blissful birding.
