Today, 08/16, probably a thousand or more shorebirds on Lewis Lake, on the
north side of MN Hwy. 212, about a mile east of Brownton in McLeod Cty.
Overwhelmingly Pectoral Sands., perhaps 350-400+
About another third of them seemed to be Lssr. Yellowlegs
Lower numbers of Least, Semipalmated Sands., and Killdeer, with a few
Wilson's Phalaropes (and there must be some Baird's in there somewhere).

Unless we get a lot of rain, this could be excellent shorebird habitat all fall.
CAUTION: Extremely busy and noisy truck-filled highway, with very poor shoulder
parking,
but you can pull over just off the blacktop. There is some closer-up viewing,
but
many of the birds are very far out. Scopes necessary.
