I am wondering if anyone on this list serve is an expert on the molt sequence
of gallinacious birds, specifically ruffed grouse.
A related question/observation....The Sibley Guide to Birds shows a diagram of
an adult male ruffed grouse in display posture with incomplete tail barring of
the interior two feathers. I was taught the incomplete bar was indicative of
females. Was my teaching incorrect?
