This afternoon Anthony Manderfeld and I did a lap at the General Mills RNA
in Golden Valley. We spotted a Northern Shrike on the west side of the
property harassing a flock of about 20 Eastern Bluebirds. We suspect this
is our resident Shrike and that it will be present for the rest of the
winter. There were also a handful of American Tree Sparrows, a couple of
Dark-eyed Juncos, a small flock of Cedar Waxwings, one Purple Finch, and a
couple of holdout Yellow-rumped Warblers.
