Hello birders! Here is a chance to catch some late season waterfowl migrants with a fun, casual group of birders in a joint MOU / MRVAC outing.
On Saturday, November 16, 2013, join leader Mark Lystig on a car trip from the Twin Cities to Weaver Bottoms on the Mississippi River. The primary targets are migrating tundra swans, eagles, gulls and other waterfowl. The trip begins at a bakery in Red Wing, MN, at 9:00 a.m. The trip is usually for the morning only. Expected stops are Colville Municipal Park south of Red Wing, then the tour goes down highway 61, potentially stopping for birds that are sighted along the way and finishing at the Weaver Bottoms (near the entrance to Whitewater State Park). The return is north to Wabasha, across the river to Nelson, WI, and south to Alma. After spending some time at Rieck's Lake State Park, we usually disband and head back to Nelson's Cheese Factory for lunch and ice cream. The limit for the number of cars that can safely stop on the side of Hwy 61 is 10. There is also limited parking at Rieck's Lake Park. Car pooling may be necessary. Because of the time of year, there is no rain check plan. The trip has been cancelled due to bad weather at the last moment in other years so Mark needs to know who is interested. All potential participants please contact Mark via phone or email so he gets your contact information. Mark will give you detailed information about when and where to meet, and may be able to assist with car pooling. Thanks, Mark Lystig 651 452-1133 -- Sincerely, Jim Ryan Saint Paul's Westside ---- Truth does not become more true by virtue of the fact that the entire world agrees with it, nor less so even if the whole world disagrees with it. - Maimonides (1135-1204) ---- ---- Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
