Erik Bruhnke and I birded Lake Calhoun and Lake Harriet (both in Minneapolis, Hennepin County), Minnesota River Valley National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center and MSP Airport's Cargo Road (both in Bloomington, Hennepin County), and Black Dog Preserve (Burnsville, Dakota County). The highlights are as follows:
L. Calhoun: -Bufflehead (1) L. Harriet: -American Coot (~10) -Brown Creeper (3-4) MRVNWR Visitor Center: -American Robin (~4) -White-throated Sparrow (2) -Song Sparrow (1--reported by a Visitor Center employee/volunteer) -Red-winged Blackbird (1--reported by a Visitor Center employee/volunteer) Cargo Road: -NO Snowy Owls that we could find Black Dog: -Trumpeter Swan (<10) -Gadwall (~8) -Northern Shoveler (2) -Double-crested Cormorant (1) -American Kestrel (1) -Peregrine Falcon (2) -Northern Shrike (1--coughing up a pellet, fun to watch!) -Eastern Bluebird (3-4) Good birding!
