Andie and I were able to see 6 Snowy's in the previously reported
Vermillion area with one maybe two new birds?
Yesterday at around 4:00 the first bird seen was just south of 180th on
Hogan perched a top a phone pole.
We took a lap west and south finding 4 more, SE corner of 170th & Emery,
East side of Emery just before 180th, North side of 180th just East of
Fischer.
There was a bonus Shrike on the north side of 190th just as we crossed
the small river bridge .
We Then found a bird atop the grain elevators on the North side of 190th
(possible new bird) just before Hogan. I thought this was the bird we
originally found on Hogan but we saw many birders watching a bird on a
phone pole just west of 180th and Hogan about 4:30 again atop a phone
pole I'm guessing this was the bird originally on Hogan. We went South
on Hogan turning onto Co Rd 47 heading south and found another
individual on the East side of 47 representing the 6th bird. I don't
remember hearing of a post for a bird in this area. We traveled west
back to Empire as dusk approached looking for lucky number 7 but not
today.
Hard to believe only a couple days before I saw Drew's bird for my first
Dakota Co Snowy. That bird has eluded me for a long time.
Thank you,
