To further support what Bill said, while they don't always overwinter, we've
had winter reports of Yellow-rumpeds in Minnesota from 19 of the past 20
years. (See http://moumn.org/loon/reports/?species=Yellow-rumped Warbler)

Subject: [mou-net] one tough warbler specie

This morning I checked locations in the St. Croix R. valley where in late
fall/early winter I had found a number of Yellow-rumped Warblers inhabiting
juniper stands that had crops of berries. To my amazement, I was able to
find 3 that had survived the frigid spell !
