Out today with some birders from Kentucky on day two. Highlights:
Spruce Grouse: 1 male on Lake County Road 2 .25 miles north of Sand River pull off and another male Spruce Grouse .50 miles north of the Sand River pull off. Bohemian Waxwings ( approx 100 ) in Ely on Washington Street about a half block west of 5th Ave. ( St. Louis County ) Red Crossbills (5) on Lake County Road 2 about a mile north of Sand River Pull off. Evening Grosbeaks and Pine Grosbeaks. I counted roughly about 50 Evening Grosbeaks coming to a active feeder in Winton. which is a 3-5 miles east of Ely on Hwy 169. The feeders are on Winton Point Road. Take Main Street into Winton and when you come to a intersection with Longbranch Drive veer right onto Winton Pt. Drive. ( there might be a street sign saying you are on Main Street but on google maps its Winton Pt. Drive ) from this intersection go 3 blocks north of here and the house is on the left with a feeder out front and a feeder on a side shed. Part of the joy of birding is sharing bird sightings and locations. -- *Mike Hendrickson* *Mike Hendrickson Guiding <http://mikehendricksonguiding.com>* *Sax-Zim Bog <http://www.sax-zimbog.com>* ---- Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
