This message is for MOU-netters who also use eBird. This weekend (Fri. 2/14 through Mon. 2/17) is the 17th annual (and now international) Great Backyard Bird Count sponsored by Cornell and the National Audubon Society (more information is on the eBird home page, eBird.org). All GBBC records are now entered through eBird and thus eventually will be imported into the MOU avian database along with other eBird records. This annual winter event attracts many new birders (which is one of its purposes). To minimize errors (ID, counting, etc.), I have made some of the regional filters in Minnesota more stringent for some species for the short time period that spans this event. Species affected include some that are known to present ID issues. This may result in more flagged entries than usual for this time of year, but please treat them as you do for other flagged records (i.e., make comments). Thanks for your understanding; this will be for a few days only.

Bruce Fall, Minneapolis (MN eBird editor)
