This morning on my way to work I followed up on Bob Ekblad's report of a Meeker
Co.
Snowy. I found the owl on the Kandi-Meeker line about 0.5 miles north of 310th
St
(Meeker)/75th Ave NE(Kandiyohi). This was a heavily barred owl that I have
never seen
before in Kandiyohi or Meeker Counties -it looked black with a white face. The
Snowy
moved around a lot spending time on power poles on the Kandiyohi side, briefly
on a fence
post on the Meeker side and finally where it remained perched on the ground on
the
Kandiyohi side. Look for a fence line that runs east/west about 0.5 miles
north of 310th.
The owl is about 0.5 miles west of the road but sticks out easily because it's
so dark. This
fence line is just to the north of a drainage ditch that crosses the
Kandi-Meeker line.
