Hello:

I bought the Sibley 2nd edition and in hind sight after looking at the bird
plates and also reading the reviews of many knowledgeable birders on the
Internet, I should of held off on buying this first printing of David
Sibleys book. I heard there will be some changes in the bird plates and the
font size in the second printing. I am not saying not to buy the book right
now but for myself I should of held off for awhile. The font size is rather
small and hard to read, the bird plates especially the reds are way off.
The gull section in regards to the plates have some issues. ( Iceland Gull
mantle is darker vs Thayer's, Thayer's legs on adult birds show a gray
color color vs pinkish red, red spot on adult gulls look reddish purple and
etc. I assume all they errors discussed on the Internet will be fixed in
the 2nd printing.

Just sharing some of the reviews I been reading.

Mike
