I am looking for support for those of you who have appreciated the great
bird watching at Veterans Memorial Park, and don't want to see it disappear
through development and neglect. Many of us have seen up to 200 species
of birds in this park including close to 60 birds that nest there as well
as some great birds in migration such as Worm-eating, Black-throated Blue,
and Connecticut Warblers. This has also been one of the most consistent
places to find Black-crowned Night-herons in the Metro.

The City of Richfield is proposing to build a one million dollar band shell
in Veterans Park which would lead to the eradication of habitat for birds
and other wildlife. Please sign the following petition (
https://www.change.org/petitions/city-of-richfield-mn-city-council-we-wish-the-city-of-richfield-to-save-veteran-s-park-green-space-as-it-now-exists-and-commit-to-not-build-a-band-shell-we-wish-the-city-to-work-with-the-performance-stage-at-the-lyndale-garden-site)
and help us fight this development. The City and it's Mayor have repeatedly
stated that they are not interested in the wildlife in the park and have
actually created and have been using a City policy to destroy actively
nesting Barn and Cliff Swallows from the shelters in the park. To protect
a great birding location we need your help.
