Hello,

Had a fun day birding yesterday in NW Minnesota; some species of note include:
I finally made the trek to see the Lewis’ Woodpecker and was rewarded at about
11:00 am. Immediately after that there was a Great Gray Owl sitting on the
north shoulder of HWY 11 just west of Roosevelt about ½ mile east of 680th Ave.
I took some photos (not too close) as I was concerned that this bird was
injured. I observed for about 15 minutes and as I was about to leave I was
relieved to see it fly and perch on a nearby power pole. Next, I had Red
Crossbills about 1 ½ west of Norris Camp, west of that location were a pair of
Gray Jays. After that I made my way into Marshall County and near the
intersection of 380th Street and 300th Avenue there were no fewer than 10 Rough
Legged Hawks a mix of light and dark phase. Otherwise there were many magpies,
crows and horned larks around. Lastly I went to the Audubon sanctuary in hopes
of the Snowies reported but did not see any, I did not stay long however. At
the old farm place there must have been 75-100 Juncos.

Good Birding
