This afternoon there were 2 raptors about 1000-1500 ft north of the beach
in trees on the MN side near the river's edge. They were large. Their
wings appeared to be a mottled brown with dark brown or black as it got
toward the outer edge. Their underneath was very light in color but with
some dark patterning. The belly area was light without dark streaking
visible at that distance. One flew at the other sitting in a tree with his
talons in front of him. They were also chasing a crow that was harassing
them. I have only seen raptors ignore crows, never actively chase them.
They were also soaring on the thermals very high up. Did anyone see these
or can anyone give me direction in identifying them? The light underside
did not look like the immature eagle photos I looked at. Thank you.
