I wandered around in Martin & Faribault Counties this afternoon and wasn't
finding much for waterfowl either in the air or on the ground. I finally
got lucky around 4:30-5:00pm and spotted a large flock of Greater
White-fronted Geese with some Snow Geese flying into the Walnut Lake WMA
from the south. They circled and landed a mile or so from me. I was lucky
again to have them close to a road for easy viewing. The large flock that I
saw land was only a small portion of the birds feeding in the flooded
fields. There were probably 3000 geese in the area, most of them
white-fronts but there were 20 or so Snow geese and also 5 or 6 Ross's
Geese. While I was there, additional flocks were coming in from the south
and landing in the same area.

>From I90 south of Walnut Lake take MN253 south for 1.4mi and then go east on
the gravel road for 2.25mi. The birds were on the south side of the road.
