I took the "scenic route" home from Big Lake today, after seeing the
white-winged scoter, and wandered along some of the lesser-traveled county
roads, finding some FOY birds, as well as a LOT of waterfowl.

On Big Lake:
Common Loon
Horned Grebe
American White Pelican - flying over
Double-crested Cormorant - flying over
Ring-billed Gulls

On Eagle Lake, along CR 75:
Common Merganser - abundant
Eared Grebe - abundant
Lots of waterfowl

Marsh at CRs 3 & 23 west of Santiago
Waterfowl - abundant
Double-crested Cormorants
Greater & Lesser Yellowlegs

Other birds:
Wilson's Snipe
Virginia Rail
Hermit Thrush (several)
Tree Swallow
Yellow-headed Blackbird
Brown Creeper
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Chipping Sparrow
Lark Sparrow
Vesper Sparrow
Ruby-crowned & golden-crowned Kinglets
