Lake Rebecca Park Reserve has aerated the lake all winter, and the lake opened up very early this year. This has attracted a nice variety of waterfowl. I checked the lake after work today and found lots of activity. A pair of Western Grebes were the highlight (I have never seen them on this lake before). There were also about 150-200 American Pelican, 50 or so Common Loons, Horned Grebes, Pied-billed Grebes, Common Mergansers, Red-breasted Mergansers, Buffleheads, Double-crested Cormorants, Kingfishers, Osprey and about 12 Great Egrets. The park is in western Hennepin Co, near Delano and Rockford and the Wright Co line. Had a Lincoln’s Sparrow under the feeders 2 days ago, but haven’t seen it since.
