I thought some folks might be interested in this bird, also.

Subject: Rare bird alert: Chestnut collared Longspur

A Chestnut-collared Longspur is being observed on east refuge road just to the south of main dike road (near refuge gates) feeding along the road. While not as rare as the Garganey, this is considered a rare bird at Crex meadows.

The Garganey is still being observed at Abel pond, although it has wandered away from the road and may be observed through a spotting scope.
