Owls can have quite a varied diet that includes insects, spiders, and worms.

We have a neighborhood pair of Barred Owls, one of which has been easily seen
the last few days. This afternoon about 5:00 P.M., the owl flew from its perch
in a tree to the bare ground, and walked over and picked an earthworm up with
its beak, and proceeded to eat it. A crow saw the owl fly down and it flew in
about 12 feet away. It never made a sound and watched the owl eat the
earthworm, while it pecked through some seed I put on the ground for ducks and
sparrows. I was expecting a mob to come in and harass the owl but nothing
happened. The owl flew back into a tree and the crow simply flew away. Has
anyone ever heard of an owl eating earthworms?
