We had our first decent push of migrants today in Polk County, thanks undoubtedly to our first sustained overnight south winds. In total I observed 52 species today at Aunt Polly's Slough in Crookston, not bad considering only four species were waterfowl.

First-of-year arrivals (for me, several of these are probably for Polk County as well) include:
turkey vulture - 2
osprey - 1
broad-winged hawks - 4
chimney swift - 4
cliff swallow - 4
ovenbird - 4
northern waterthrush - 4
black-and-white warbler - 3
orange-crowned warbler - 2
American redstart - 1
blackpoll warber - 2 (early arrival? was flagged in Ebird for Polk County as being rare)
Harris's sparrow - 2
white-crowned sparrow - 1
rose-breased grosbeak - 1

Happy migration!
