I have to agree with Scott.

Between the MOU listserv, eBird, Facebook, other birding forums, etc...
there are so many options available for people to post their sightings and
discuss the joys of birding that only the fanatical can follow them all -
much less post to all of them.

I also would not be shocked if he's had a bad experience posting on this
listserv in the past and no longer follows it. He would not be the first.

Who knows.

I'm just happy he saw it - great bird! - and was able to share the
experience.

I'm thankful for all the options we have, because the days of telephone
hotlines does not sound appealing.

That said, when I do see a sighting that would be of interest to many
people and I have not seen it posted on MOU (or the IOU in my case) I will
"forward" it on to the listserv.

Please contribute your sightings to our list; it is only as good as members
make it!

Also, please report your bird sightings to eBird and/or the IOU/MOU. The
information gathered is vital to the future of birds.
