On June 7, 2014 MOU trip leaders Kevin Smith & Gerry Hoekstra will meet at Cannon Wilderness Area in Rice County.
3471 - 151st Street East, Northfield, MN 55057 The Cannon River Wilderness Area consists of approximately 850 acres of wooded river valley in Rice County. The Wilderness Area is located four miles north of Faribault and extends along both sides of the Cannon River to a point about five miles south of Northfield. Participants need to walk to and through the preferred habitats of summer residents like Scarlet Tanager and Wood Thrush. Also, we will have a possible chance to find Cerulean Warbler and Louisiana Waterthrush. The tour will start in the deciduous forest along the Cannon River. We will meet at the picnic area/parking lot which is a little over 1 mile east of Hwy 3 at the end of 151st Street East. The trip will begin at 7:30 am and last until about 11 am. We will be there even if it lightly rains. Contacting us beforehand is not required.
