Gerry Hoekstra and I scouted the Cannon River Wilderness Park in Rice County on Tuesday Morning. We found some good birds but almost all of them were identified by sound only. The most interesting birds detected on our outing were Yellow & Black-billed Cuckoo, Acadian Flycatcher, Veery and several Scarlet Tanagers. Anyone that is planning to join us this Saturday (June 7th) will need to come prepared. We had plenty of mosquitos so repellent will be needed as well as water proof boots because the trails are wet.
