Hey birders,

This is a bit belated, but what the heck.

Saturday morning was the annual Minneopa Bird Count at Minneopa State
Park. This normally occurs the first Saturday in June, but was delayed a
week. The most interesting find was a Lawrence’s Golden-winged X
Blue-winged Warbler near the group camp parking lot. The bird appears to
roam an area along the north side of that parking lot along the parallel
trail to the northwest. Dave Johnson and I were able to relocate the bird
again today.

Vocalizations of this bird are quite variable. It sang a series of buzzing
notes that were representative of neither species on Saturday but today
gave a typical Blue-winged Warbler song. Since Blue-winged Warblers do
nest in that area, every Blue-winged song should be checked out.

Happy birding!
