Impressed that the refuge staff loan out a key to the gates for birding the "closed areas". Despite their generosity, species numbers were low for me, waterfowl hard to find in the whitecaps and passerines hunkered somewhere I presume, as it was a very windy day. Draw down has not started so there were no muddy edges anywhere, and no migrant shorebirds to be found. I hope to return in a few days, on a more calm day I hope. I will be birding around Roseau tomorrow. If anyone has suggestions, I am open to your ideas. I lived in Roseau decades ago but now live in Oregon, so I am enjoying the birds of the north country. List is on ebird. I can forward it if there is interest. Judy Meredith, [email protected]
