This afternoon at 3:45PM two phalaropes were swimming in the NE corner
of Salt Lake in LQP County. Both were in gray-white fall-winter plumage.
Surprisingly both had short thick yellow bills. My first thought was that
they were Red Phalaropes, but the yellow bill is not in accord with the fall-
winter plumage, or could they have still been in transitional plumage ?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
