As some of you know, Fred Lesher, an avid birder from La Crosse, Wisconsin, has moderate Alzheimer's disease. Sadly, this has taken away his desire to bird and study his lifetime passion. His wife, Jolene, his children and grandchildren invite birders and nature lovers to peruse Fred's extensive collection of bird books in the family home and make a small monetary contribution toward whatever you choose to take. There are over a thousand titles that the family simply can't absorb. He is still living at home, but requires care. This will likely soon escalate to care in a facility. He had expressed to Jolene a few years back that he'd like his books to go to good homes. So, on October 11th, 2014 from 9-3, the home at 509 Winona St., La Crosse will be open for this purpose.
It would be a nice tribute to Fred to get a nice turnout for this event and I hope that anyone who is close by will consider stopping by to look at the books. Also, please keep Fred and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks, Dan Jackson Chaseburg, Vernon County, Wisconsin (Near La Crosse) www.PBase.com/DEJackson<http://www.PBase.com/DEJackson>
