Green <[email protected]> via moumn.org) Yesterday and today our yard and rural road edge in Duluth Township have been hopping with birds - mostly 100s of juncos and 10s of White-throated Sparrows. Highlights for Oct. 3rd were 65 Rusty Blackbird in the yard in various plumages, being well-fed with cracked corn, and the first Fox Sparrow. For today Oct. 4th, highlights are one Field Sparrow, a few White- crowned Sparrows in the hopping mob of juncos and white-throats plus several warblers - Palm, Yellow-rumped, Nashville - and a few thrushes - Hermit and Swainso's. Interestingly, only 5 or 6 robins in contrast to the thousands that fly over Hawk Ridge.
