Yesterday in Mendota Heights I found several Lincoln Sparrows and a
White-Crowned Sparrow. Today in the yard we had Yellow-rumped Warblers
working the water lilies and a Swainson's Thrush in the bushes. I checked
around for other thrushes and found none.

My wife reported that she observed a Hooded Merganser checking out one of
wood duck houses, perhaps planning for next spring. We have had
Mergansers and Wood Ducks all summer hanging around. Two Mergansers were
nest mates that were released by WRC in late July. They continue, I
believe, to hang around and are now full grown.
