Dear Bird Advocates & Concerned Citizens of MN,
*Our work is not yet done. *Although the public outcry has been impressive with over 75,000 signatures demanding bird safe glass and volumes of news coverage, the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) continues to deny the demands of the public. *On Friday, October 10* we are planning a surprise visit (please don’t post on Facebook) to the MSFA public meeting. We plan to bring our signs and deliver the postcards from last’ week’s rally. We need about 20-40 folks to join us, and, if possible, take photos of the postcard delivery then post on your Facebook page. ***We do not want to use the overly negative (i.e. “Vikings Suck”) approach but a firm demand to change the glass now! - As a group, we will gather by 8:45 a.m in the lobby of 1010 Metrodome Square Building. The meeting is in the Lower Level Conference Room. - Address: 1010 South 7th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55415 - The location is at the corner of 11th Avenue South and 6th Street, across from the old Metrodome Site. Please enter the building through the main entrance off of South 7th Street. There is a parking ramp connected to the building. Parking is available in any non-reserved space. Metered street parking is also available. *Following that meeting on the same day (Oct. 10)* Governor Dayton is holding a campaign rally with Bill Clinton at Northrup Auditorium and we need loads of folks to show up for this and put the pressure on Dayton. We will meet there at 12:30 p.m. on the left side of the front of the building as you face it. Bring a sign and other bird accessories as you did for the rally last weekend. *Please let us know if you can make the MSFA meeting* (You do not need to RSVP to the Dayton Rally, just show up!) *RSVP: Wendy Haan at **[email protected]* <[email protected]> *Sponsored by Minnesota Citizens for the Protection of Migratory Birds* *For more information/background on this issue, see:* http://www.wired.com/2014/09/the-new-minnesota-vikings-stadium-will-kill-migratory-birds/ -- Elise Morton, PhD Conservation Chair, Audubon Chapter Minneapolis Postdoctoral Research Associate, Blekhman Lab Dept. of Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior University of Minnesota ---- Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
