There will be a Big Sit birding event in Coldwater Spring <http://www.nps.gov/miss/parkmgmt/bomcurr.htm> Restoration Project by the Mississippi river on Sunday, Oct 12th. It starts at 7:30 am and runs til 6:30 pm. Stop by and join Sharon Stiteler and others as we see how many birds we can find in this day-long count at one location. Bring a chair and some snacks or lunch if you wish. Water and granola bars will be provided by the Mississippi Park service. There will be tent in case of rain. Stay for an hour or the whole day. At 7:30 pm we will be meeting for Birds and Beers at Axel's in Mendota <http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Faxelsrestaurants.com%2Flocations%2Fmendota%2F&h=gAQE2EUX5> . Birds and Beers is an informal gathering of birders of all abilities–if you're interested in birds, you're invited. You can meet other birders–maybe find a carpool buddy, ask about where to find target birds, share cool research projects you might be working on, ask a bird feeding question, share life lists, share some digiscoping tips, promote your blog–the sky's the limit.
