Dear Bird Lovers,
Media attention is growing regarding the misguided decision to put bird-killing, less energy-efficient glass in our new Vikings stadium (costing taxpayers many more dollars for many years to come!). We have some momentum and we must keep up the pressure as it’s not too late! We want to show the Vikings owners and our Governor that football fans value Minnesota wildlife too! *Please join us to enroll football fans to our cause at the next Vikings game! We need a large group so bring friends!* *DATE:* Sunday, November 2nd *TIME: *10:30 AM *PLACE: *Meeting point is at the SW corner of the Gateway Lot, the parking lot just next to the Stadium Village Stop of the Green Line (train). ** Remember Daylight Savings* The strategy is to meet with tailgaters prior to the game, which starts at noon. This is a *pro-bird and pro-Vikings *rally. We have signs/banners for you to hold, we need purple people. Creativity is welcome. Everyone will be encouraged to wear their Vikings clothes/ paraphernalia or the colors purple and gold. ** Our “citizen group” is Viking friendly as there are many Vikings fans who also feel strongly about this issue. While everyone’s passion is appreciated, we ask that you respect the tone of this rally. * *We will gather petition signatures and ask fans to contact the following and say "Make the Vikings stadium bird-safe and change the glass now":* 1. Lester Bagley, Vikings VP of Communications Email: *[email protected] <[email protected]>*, Ph:* (952) 918-8350 <%28952%29%20918-8350>* 2. Mark Dayton, Governor Email: *[email protected] <http://state.mn.us/>*, Ph: *(651) 222-3766 <%28651%29%20222-3766>* 3. Michele Kelm-Helgen, Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority Chair Email: *[email protected] <[email protected]>*, Ph: *(612) 335-3319 <%28612%29%20335-3319>* *Please ask your community to join us. If you can't make it, we ask you to please make these 3 phone calls above, for the birds.* You can also email Dan Noble, President of HKS Architectural Firm (*[email protected] <[email protected]>*), and John Hutchings, architect for new Vikings stadium, ([email protected]), and tell them “Please walk your talk and ensure Minnesota builds an earth friendly stadium that does not kill birds!” Thank you for your continued support! We hope to see you there!
