Hi All:

The bird-finding app, BirdsEye, long inhabiting the Apple platform, is
available for Android phones and tablets as of today. I am just letting you
know, I get absolutely no financial benefit from sales; I did Beta test it
for the developers.

On your phone or tablet, go to this address at the Google Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.birdseyebirding.birdseye

This is basically a very slick app for finding birds you need for your
various lists, but a few caveats are in order:

1. The app works in conjunction with eBird, so it really helps to have an
eBird account. The app alerts you to birds in your vicinity that you lack,
but which have been reported on eBird.

2. The app is “free.” BUT, in order to search for ALL the birds in your
area (instead of the most common 50), you must invest in a monthly
membership. This membership is cheap enough, only a couple of dollars—but
the word “free” is a tad misleading.

I recommend checking the app out. I am going to buy a membership for North
American birds (other continents costs extra). This app is almost like a
bird Geiger counter for birders.
