Christmas Eve Morning was a fun time to be out and about. First, it was SUNNY! Thus, I went over to the Superior Middle School, and watched three different snowy owls hunt for breakfast. In addition, there are a some snow buntings hanging out in the Middle School area.
After the snowies decided it was time for a snooze, I drove well north of Two Harbors. Along hwy 3, East Alger Grade, and back into Two Harbors along hwy #2 the birds were quite active. East Alger Grade is plowed in the winter, and has some nice farmland interspersed with deep forest. Near the end of the pavement on hwy #3, there is a large farm where I found four bald eagles and a ton of ravens fighting over breakfast. Along East Alger Grade there were lots of pine grosbeaks down on the road and getting gravel. Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays.
