The public feeders I maintain on Old Vermilion Trail are starting to attract
some more
winter visitors. In addition to the normal birds, redpolls are now regularly
using the feeder.
In addition, I found and photographed two Grey Jays / Canada Jays about one
mile in on the
trail about 8:30 this morning. The jays were flitting from tree top to tree
top. Finally, these
feeders are only a few miles from the Northern Hawk Owl which hunts near Kelly
J's farm
on Jean Duluth Road. I originally reported this owl back on December 27th and
it seems to
have established its winter territory in the farm fields around Kelly J's.

If you're in the Duluth area, take a swing through this area, and let me know
what you see.
Here is a map and directions to the feeders on Old Vermilion Trail.
