Saw a very cooperative Black backed Woodpecker at around noon today along the trail to the upper falls at Gooseberry SP. Also on a sadder note found a dead but still limp Spruce grouse at 9:30 am, along hwy 1 south of Ely between mile markers 304-305. Also two dead and limp Ruffed Grouse 2 miles further south. Very light traffic, but we did meet one logging type truck???? -jerry pruett
